The Procedure
When you opt for nitrous oxide sedation, the gas will be administered through a rubber hood that rests on your nose. You will feel some numbness as your body relaxes. Depending on the complexity of your dental procedure, the depth of sedation can be varied. You will remain conscious and respondent during the whole procedure while not being able to feel any pain. You will be provided with oxygen at the end of the treatment which will make you feel normal within 5 to 10 minutes.
